HOW TO CLEANSE YOUR SKIN

Watch my video below on how to cleanse your skin, this is to help you if your just starting with a cleansing routine or if you just want to make sure your doing the right thing.

Skin Types

Mature Skin

As we get older our skin loses its ability to produce natural oils and our collagen and elasticity reduces. Our skin becomes thinner and more sensitive and fine lines and wrinkles start to appear. New skin cells take longer to produce and dead skin cells build up faster. Mature skin often appears dry and dull and can be more sensitive to products and environmental factors. To combat these factors you need to use more specialised skin care products that will help to increase collagen and elstin production and hydrate the skin.

Your skin care routine should include:

Cleanse:

It’s is better to use a Rosemary & Calendula Cleansing Milk rather than Alpinia & Teetrea Cleansing Wash. A cleanser will dry your skin out less than a facial wash but both are better than soap and water.(soap and water will strip your skin of its natural ph. making it feel very tight and uncomfortable (use morning and evening).

Tone:

Chamomile & Moringa Skin toner should always be used after using Rosemary & Calendula Cleansing Milk. This will remove any traces of excess cleanser and restores natural moisture balance (use morning and evening use damp cotton pad to sweep around your face and neck).

Moisturise:

You may find that you need more than just a moisturiser to help with collagen and elastin and also to hydrate, depending on your skin. I would recommend using Ceramide Recovery Lipo A C & E under your day moisturiser Aloe & Lavender A.M moisturiser, this helps against free radical damage (morning only).

If your skin is more on the dry side I would recommend using Hydrating Control Serum with your A.M moisturiser.

In the evening use Avocado & Cranberry P.M moisturiser. It’s important to use a night cream because our skin need time to repair while we sleep; this moisturiser contains vitamins, ceramides and liposomes to keep skin smooth, supple and resilient (evening only).

Other products you may wish to consider are:

Eyes:

Plantago Essential Eye Gel, this will help to reduce puffiness and dark circles whilst also working on fine lines and wrinkles (morning and evening).

To Exfoliate:

Citrus Fruit Exfoliant, this will help to remove dead skin cells leaving your skin feeling soft and fresh (once per week).

Mask:

ICT Intensive Clarifying Therapy; this is like a spa treatment at home; it will help with collagen and elastin production, firms and improves elasticity, softens and smooth’s the skin and promotes a fresh and clear complexion (one to two times per week).

Sensitive Skin

Sensitive is reactive and easily irritated by harsh ingredients, it is often thinner which is why it is more susceptible to external triggers. Reactions can differ from person to person but are usually characterised by itchy rashes or isolated sore and flaky skin patches. Broken veins are also a common factor of sensitive skin.

As with all skin you should treat your skin very gently and keep it simple.

To Cleanse:

Always use a Cleansing Milk; Rosemary & Calendula Cleansing Milk is great for sensitive skins, gently removing any dirt and impurities (use morning and evening using damp cotton pad to sweep around your face and neck).

Tone:

Chamomile & Moringa Skin Toner is alcohol free and will gently restore your skins natural balance, use damp cotton wool and gently sweep around your face(morning and evening using damp cotton pads sweep around your face and neck areas).

Moisturise:

You need to use a light moisturiser that will replenish sensitive skin and protect against dehydration,Aloe & Lavender A.M Moisturiser  is ideal for your skin (morning only).

In the evening you should still use a night moisturiser like Avocado & Cranberry P.M moisturiser will help to repair damage and protect your skin while you sleep.

Eyes:

Your eyes are also important, a specialist eye gel is needed for the sensitive skin around your eye, using a small amount of Plantago Essential Eye Gel around the eye ares will reduce puffiness and dark circles and also help with fine lines and wrinkles (morning and evening).

Combination Skin

You will find that your T-zone (forehead down your nose and chin area) will be more oily so maybe more prone to blackheads and pimples on the nose and chin. Your cheeks will be normal to dry, if dry they may have dry flaky patches or be slightly itchy.

This is probably the most difficult skin type to treat as you need to care for two different types of skin.

To Cleanse:

If you can afford to buy two cleansing products, Rosemary and Calendula cleansing milk and Alpinia & Teatree cleansing wash, that would be great for your skin or maybe try alternating the products, when you have finished one alternate to the other. The cleansing milk will treat your normal or dry skin and the cleansing wash will treat your oily skin. Always use a toner, Camomile & Moringa toner, to remove any excess cleanser (use morning and evening on a damp cotton pad).

To Moisturise:

I would recommend Juniper & Yarrow 24hr moisturiser. This is suitable for all skin types’ especially oily skin. If you find your cheeks are still quite dry then again you could alternate with Aloe & Lavender A.M moisturiser. You could also try using the hydrating control serum just on your cheek area. Juniper and Yarrow moisturiser can be used morning and evening.

Eyes:

Plantago Essential Eye Gel will help reduce puffiness and dark circles whilst also helping to retain extra moisture for those fine lines.

To Exfoliate:

It’s also important to regularly exfoliate your skin with Citrus Fruit Exfoliant, this will help to keep your pores unclogged. Your skin will feel clear and healthy.

Mask:

ICT Intensive Clarifying Therapy will help to keep your complexion clear and fresh, it’s like having a spa treatment at home.

Spot Treatment:

For the treatment of individual spot or blemishes Rescue Blemish Away is a great overnight treatment.

Dry Skin

If you have dry skin it will be lacking in natural lubricant and moisture. It will feel tight, have a fine texture and be quite fragile. You may have flaky patches of skin too. Because of the lack of moisture in your skin you may be prone to premature aging, tiny fine lines may appear and not go away.

To Cleanse:

Never use soap and water this is particularly dying on your skin as it strips the skin of any natural oils. A Cleansing Milk is better to use then a Cleansing Wash. Rosemary & Calendula Cleansing Milk will tenderly cleanse your skin, removing dirt and impurities to leave your skin soft smooth and fresh, followed by Camomile & Moringa toner to remove any excess cleansing milk.

To Moisturise:

You may need a specialist moisturiser depending on how dry your skin is. Hydrating control Serum is fabulous for very dry skin. A combination of Hydrating control Serum and Aloe & lavender A.M moisturiser would be good if your skin is not too dry. Another option is to use Ceramide Recovery Lipo A,C & E this is great for dry skin rescue treatment and can be used under Lavender & Aloe A.M. Moisturiser. You need to use a specialist night moisturiser,it is important to ues a different moisturiser in the evening, this give your skin a chance to repair itself whilst you sleep. Avocado & Cranberry P.M Moisturiser is great for this.

Eyes:

If the skin around your eye also feel dry and needs treating. A specialist eye gel such as Plantago Essential Eye Gel helps the skin retain extra moisture treating fine lines and wrinkles.

To Exfoliate:

Citrus Fruit Exfoliant, this will help to remove dead skin cells leaving your skin feeling soft and fresh.one or two times per week will help to keep your skin healthy.

Mask:

ICT Intensive Clarifying Therapy will help to keep your complexion clear and fresh, it’s like having a spa treatment at home.

Normal Skin

Normal skin is as it sounds no visible pores, a smooth and even texture, and a healthy natural glow. Although on the majority of what is considered ‘normal skin’ there are no visible blemishes, it is normal to have blemishes, pimples, flaky patches or greasy areas and minor variations.  But just because you have normal skin it doesn’t mean that you don’t have to take care of it.

To Cleanse:

A good simple routine will help to keep your skin glowing and healthy. Cleanse and tone your skin with Rosemary & Calendula cleansing milk followed by Chamomile & moringa toner. Use a damp cotton pad to apply.

To Moisturise:

A light moisturiser such as Aloe & Lavender A.M moisturiser will keep your skin soft and supple.

In the evening to help repair your skin Avacado & Cranberry P.M moisturiser is great

Eyes:

It is always good practice to use a specific eye gel to stop premature aging, plantago essential eye gel is great for this.
